For those of you who own a dog, or any animal, you know how easy it is to get attached to them, to the point where you begin to think of them as your children… and imagining life without them one day is the most depressing thing in the world.
I have two dogs, Honey and Meela. Honey is a 14 year old Pomeranian, and Meela is a 2 year old toy Maltipoo. Honey is more so the family dog, and Meela is mine 🙂 I absolutely adore my dogs, and the thought of not having them one day literally kills me inside.
“Nobody can fully understand the meaning of love unless they’ve owned a dog.” – Gene Hill
“A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” – Josh Billings
“Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day.” –John Grogan (Marley & Me.)
The quote above made me so sad when I first read it, because it made me realize how short of a time my family and I have left with Honey. Pomeranians are said to live 12-16 years, and Honey is 14. She used to be so hyper and energetic, and now she can’t even get up the stairs. It breaks my heart to see her walk so slow now, and to see her not turn around when I call her name because she has almost fully lost her hearing… but she is such a happy dog. (She had just woken up from a nap in the picture below on the left, so it may not look like it lol.) And the picture on the right is of Honey and I when I first got her when I was 8 years old.
“He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg, by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile, and by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him.”
Now here are some more of Meela, who, as I mentioned above, is my dog:
I know you’re all going to make fun of me, but you can find more pictures of Meela on her very own instagram!: @meela_the_maltipoo
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed a few of my favorite dog quotes, and hope some of you can relate to this obsessiveness with dogs. 🙂
9-2014 update: Honey went to doggy heaven on September 1, 2014. <3
