Can you believe my mom is 57?!
My husband! <3
The photos above are of Cody and his grandma. Two months before the wedding, Cody's mom called me saying that Cody's grandma found out she has stomach cancer, and she only had a few more days to live. I was on my way to work when I got that call, and I had to break the news to Cody, which I knew would devastate him because Cody is SO, so close with his grandma. he absolutely adores her. When I called to tell him, he sobbed over the phone, instantly left work, and stayed in the hospital with his grandma for a week straight. We were all prepared for her to pass. The doctor said there was no way she would make it through the surgery that would allow her to eat, but she wanted to go through with it, regardless.... and she made it through! It was literally a miracle. All Cody wanted was for his grandma to make it to our wedding because it was all she talked about, so the fact that she made it two more months when the doctor said she only had a few days, made this day even more special.
Funny Fact: I did NOT walk down the aisle at my wedding lol... So on the left, I'm literally looking over like "uhhh, isn't the aisle that way?" and my dad just kept walking straight haha. And then on the right, I was like... yep, that just happened, and then everyone laughed. In my dad's defense, we technically weren't even supposed to get married in this spot. (long story short... when we booked it this venue, we were promised all of the construction of the new wedding area would be done months before our wedding day, when in fact, it's actually still being finished, so last minute, we had to agree to get married literally in the pool area, so we didn't exactly get to have our rehearsal exactly how it would be for the wedding day... and the way my dad walked is how we practiced, because all of the beach chairs were still out.)
MY MAID OF HONOR,
CODY'S BEST MAN,
Cody did dance with his mom! But mid-song, he went to go grab his grandma. <3
I've been waiting to finally share these photos with you guys for so long! This day was seriously the absolute best day. It sounds so cliché, but if you haven't gotten married yet, I'm sure you will feel the same when that day comes. Cody and I got married at the Waterfront Hilton Beach Resort in Huntington Beach, which is actually the same place my parents got married.
On Friday, my bridesmaids and I went to go get a pedicure while drinking mimosas, before we headed to the hotel for the weekend. The nail place had a sign up that said "Congrats Hayley," with bottomless mimosas for us; it was too cute! We grabbed lunch right after, and then headed to the hotel to start the weekend. We checked into the bridal suite with a perfect view of the beach, and popped open our blue sparkling wine, courtesy of Blanc De Bleu before heading down to the wedding rehearsal.... which I ended up being on the verge of drunk for, lol. After rehearsal, we went to the hotel bar and Cody bought the whole wedding party a round of shots before heading to the rehearsal dinner. Once we all got back to the hotel, pretty much the entire wedding part was in the bridal suite hanging out, and at 11pm, we walked to the bar "Tanner's," and literally had theeeee best night! I didn't go to bed until 4:30 am lol.
Then at 7:30 am, I woke up to banging on my door because I needed to wake up to start getting ready, and boy was I hungover. While I felt like actual death, I would still do it all over again the same way because we all had SO much fun. (Ok, but really, I had to run to the bathroom a few times thinking I was going to vomit that morning, lol.) We ordered breakfast up to the room while we got our hair and makeup done and I could not believe the day we here! I wanted to take in every moment, of this day because I knew it was going to fly by. (That's another reason why I just went with the flow and stayed up until the very end on Friday night, because I knew I would never get this weekend back, and we were all having so much fun that I didn't want to miss anything.)
So fast forward to 5pm, after the bridesmaids and I took all of our photos, we were back up in the bridal suite waiting to go down stairs for the ceremony, which was going to start at 5:30. We hung out and I was actually super calm, until we had to go down stairs to start the ceremony. I got sooooo nervous, lol. But I got nervous for nothing, because what was making me nervous was walking down the aisle and everyone staring at me, but if you read above... I clearly did not end up walking down the aisle, haha.
The ceremony went by SO fast. We took photos with our wedding party, Cody and I took ours, and then we went to the reception, which went until midnight. Of course, since all but two of my bridesmaids were dancers, we danced. I wasn't planning on it, but eeeevvvveryone kept asking me "are you and the bridesmaids going to do a dance?" like literally was asked a million times, and then I was like "what kind of dancer would I be if I didn't dance at my wedding?!" Aside from the DJ NOT playing the cut version we specifically choreographed to (cue eye roll,) the dance still turned out great and everyone loved it. Once we changed back into our dresses, everyone was just taking shots and dancing until we were kicked out, basically, lol. (we had an open bar, so everyone went crazy when that was announced. lol.) The very last song, everyone picked cody and I up and we like full on crowd surfed. By this point, our videographers and photographers had left, so it was only captured on cell phones! But it was such a fun way to end the night. Well, the reception, that is... because the wedding party all ended up going out to The Bungalow in Huntington afterwards. I was SOOOO exhausted, and literally falling asleep as I was walking, but I had to live up my only wedding night!
And there you have it! Probably my longest blog post to date. But omg, I wish I could re-do our entire wedding weekend. It really was the absolute best weekend, and I was literally SO sad on our honeymoon knowing it was all over. Like, legit post-wedding blues.
