Cody and I have been experimenting this week with new ways to use the camera, and how to get better lighting, so that the lighting doesn’t have to be forced through editing. For a while, we thought we had it all down with the ISO, shutter speed, and all that jazz… then I come across other pictures, and I’m like, “OoOoO, how can we make mine look like that?” haha. It’s crazy how there is so much that goes into knowing your camera, and how when you think you’ve learned everything there is to know about it, you find out you still have some learning to do. I’ve had this camera for a year now, and we learn more about it every outfit post we take. And by “we,” I mean Cody lol.
* Tip: Use your cameras Exposure Meter & Metering Mode. It helps you adjust the shutter speed correctly, and will make a huge difference in making you look much brighter.

Great tip! I love your sweater – it’s the perfect slouchy yet breathable piece for spring. You can be cozy in it but still get a bit of the breeze that goes by.

I love a post that talks about cameras. I am brand new to blogging, and haven’t invested in a good camera yet, but it is high on my list of priorities. It look like whatever you did is working because these pictures are seriously gorg!

Thank you! Getting used to how to use a camera correctly can be super overwhelming, so if you have any questions when you get one of your own, feel free to email, and I’d be glad to give you some tips! :)

I totally know what you mean about learning new things about your camera. I took courses in photography during college, have had my camera for nearly 5 years now (oh god… I remember the day I got it like it was yesterday!) and I’m still learning new things every day. That’s half the fun of photography, though, getting to know everything and being in a constant state of learning. There is always something new to try. May I suggest investing in a 5-way reflector? I have a 40″ one that brings my photos to life that much more. And pre-editing, too! Might be worth looking into.
Loving this outfit. That sweater looks so comfortable. I would totally wear that everywhere purely for the feeling of having a warm hug all day. Love it!
