Here is the first look at our master bedroom! This is the only room that is closest to being finished, but we still have a significant amount to do in here. We need to paint, figure out what artwork we want to do above the bed, we need to get a window fixture, switch out the rug, find a dresser, etc. But even though it looks a little plain right now, I seriously feel like I can take a breath for the first time in 14 months. We've been in our house for 2 months, but everything is still everywhere. We have random pieces of furniture that we're keeping as we wait for everything to come in, so it really hasn't felt like home until now. I personally was really struggling during the 14 month period of not having a space to decorate and come home to. I mean, yes, we did end up in an apartment as we waited for the completion of the home, but we pretty much still had more than half of our stuff in boxes. We obviously didn't paint or hang much, knowing we'd be moving it all again. I felt like I had ZERO creative outlet and being creative is such a huge part of my identity. (k, now I'm treating this like a diary entry, lol.) I'm just so happy we are finally here. It was a long and difficult wait and I seriously am filled with gratitude when we lay down in our bed at night.
The Mattress:
If you followed along with my Bachelorette Party weekend, then you know how OBSESSED I was with the mattress at the house we stayed in. I did reach out to the home owner and she sent me the link! (And yes, that price is accurate lol.) I've had so many of you reach out about how much you love the mattress, too! UPDATE: Now that I've slept on it more, I've been waking up in literal pain. Daniel had been saying it from the beginning, but I didn't start noticing it until now, since it's more broken in.
The Bed:
The bed is from Crate and Barrel and It's everything I had hoped for.... however... it is a little dangerous. The corners stick out, which is part of the design, so I ended up putting little rubber corner pieces on there, because I did run into a corner of it and almost needed to get stitches on my shin, lol.
The Barn Door:
GOD, I don't even know where to start. I LOVE the way it looks, but it was a bitch to put together, so be prepared. My dad can literally put anything and everything together - like he has fully rebuilt/restored cars, you name it - but this was just... I don't even know, lol. The pieces sat around for almost 4 weeks and my dad made multiple trips over to our house to work on it. On the last attempt, he brought his brothers and another friend over to help. That was when it was officially completed, and my GOD, was it a project.
