Now for the second half of today’s post: I did get a tattoo, and it reads “CMH,” my Cousin Christopher’s initials. I have 2 other small tattoos that are barely even noticeable, but I have known for 6 years I wanted to get this exact one and in this exact spot. My mom is NOT a fan of tattoos, which I know many people aren’t, as they can appear to be “trashy.” But I don’t think a tattoo appears trashy unless the person acts and dresses that way. If you carry yourself in a classy way, then I don’t think it comes off as anything negative.
I got my first one when I turned 20, and it was a heart on my wrist. I say “was” because it’s only partially there now lol. My mom just about died when I came home and showed her, and she begged me to get it removed. (Fr starters, removal does not cost an arm and a leg for something so small, but it DOES hurt much worse than getting an actual tattoo! lol.) I started the removal process about a year ½ later, and then got over it because they told me it would take 2 sessions, when I had done 6 and it was still there. Everyone always asks why, since it’s so small, but I did it for my mom, and you have no idea how happy she was when I agreed. lol. She’s even fine with it being just partially there because in person you literally cannot see it unless you look for it. Now it’s just a funny story with my parents. Anyway, my mom would text me weekly asking me to consider it, and then one day wrote me a 2 page letter about it and stuck it in my suitcase before I left to San Diego one weekend (LOL!) She just hated that it was in such a visible spot and feared that I’d never get a job because of it… Even though I work in the entertainment industry, and it is totally not a big deal to anyone here. My manager at my PR job has a sleeve of tattoos, and every single dancer I know that I audition and work with, has at LEAST one. If I were a nurse or a school teacher, then it would be a different story. Oh, and the second one is a cross on my foot, which my parents also weren’t to thrilled about, but it blew over in 2 minutes, and now my mom actually (semi) likes it, . With the new one, I called my mom to tell her, which I was so nervous about, and I explained to her how it’s very small, and how she didn’t even notice it when she saw me last. Then I sent her a picture of it and she just said “K! Still hate it!!!” haha.
Gorgeous dress!

Thank you, Tamara!
You look stunning in this dress! I don’t have any tattoos myself but I agree with you…they aren’t trashy in and of themselves at all!

Thanks so much, Gina!
What a beautiful dress and your tattoos are classy, not trashy. It’s the lady who determines how the tattoos are viewed by others; yours is beautiful memorial to your cousin. I’m sure he’d be pleased that you have it. Carry it proudly!
I’m glad you think so, Maria! I was really excited to tell my aunt, and she absolutely loved it. Which I think is another reason why my mom kind of warmed up to it, too :) Thank you Maria!! xo
I absolutely love the tattoo placement. And I couldn’t agree more, tattoos aren’t trashy unless you make it look that way!

Thank you for the sweet words, Jenessa! <3
I think the era of tattoos being perceived as crass and “working girls only” are behind us :) I got my first in 1999 to celebrate the birth of my daughter and I recall the looks I received LOL it wasn’t too large, around 6″ in length but narrow. I was SO amused. Today, people of both genders walk around with full arms covered in tattoos and hardly anyone blinks. You’re right, being classy or trashy is a very much an attitude, and being classy with a tattoo or three is, in my opinion, very sexy :)
So true! Tattoos on people don’t even phase me. And that is so sweet you got one for your daughters birth! I love that! Thanks so much for stopping by, Sheela! <3

This is such a lovely dress! I also absolutely love your tattoo it´s so dainty and pretty : ) I skyped my mom from Chile to tell her I would get my first tattoo and she obviously wasn´t happy, but then called again to say how happy she was I told her. Now she really likes it :D I think it´s a mom´s job to be a little more worried.

I’m glad you think so! I thought the same thing, about it being a dainty one :) You are so right! It totally is a moms job to worry about something that is permanent on the skin. That’s so sweet that you skyped your mom about it! I’m glad she was able to warm up to it and no likes it! <3
