This post is WELL over-due. So I participated in Sober January this year, and I must say, I am SHOCKED I lasted. Before this, I feel like I developed a habit of coming home, opening the fridge, and poring myself a glass of wine... and then refilling a few times until I went to bed. Literally, I would drink 6 or 7 times a week. I liked having my time to wind (or wine) down after getting home from working with customers all day, and then having to come home and work on my blog. I mean, blogging & drinking wine just go hand in hand! If you are a new follower and don't know much about me aside from my blog, I also work as a jeweler a few days a week. I've been doing this for 2 years and I really do love it... but it also stresses me the fuck out. I manage our social media and work with clients all day long....Last Saturday, I woke up to 13 text messages from just ONE customer. (Nothing bad, he just had a shit ton of questions.) Anyway, I NEVER shut off. PLUS I obviously have my blog which is 24/7 all day everyday. (I will go to the bathroom while I'm at work and have to answer an email or two that is blog related, step outside to post on social media to fulfill a contract with a brand, etc.) Needless to say, I get home and I NEED A FUCKING DRINK.
Moving on from my mini rant: Towards the end of last year, I would over-do the drinking whenever I'd go out. And in december, there were 5 separate instances where I threw up from drinking too much. Like, it was becoming a problem and I NEVER used to vomit from drinking. I kept telling myself I hated feeling like this and I just wanted to be healthier, blahdy blah. January 1st, morning after Cody & I's NYE party, everyone woke up hungover, of course, but I also had never felt worse in my life from drinking. And THAT was when I was like, "Hayley, it's time to calm it down." That entire day I felt so gross and I was so determined to just become a healthier version of myself.
So Sober-January began for me. I went crazy with drinking water all day long to stay hydrated. I carried (and still do carry) my pink starbucks tumbler around with me everywhere, and I tried to drink 5 full things of water in it each day. Three times a week, I would also go to the gym. And with just 3 times a week (including 100 sit-ups each night) and drinking only water, I felt SO much better. I felt more motivated, more awake each day, and I had more energy. I also felt happier. And I noticed a HUGE difference in how toned I looked versus before. My stomach looked so much tighter.
Moral of the story, I'm glad I went through with this and was able keep it up. It helped me work towards to a better version of myself!

I’m so happy for you! It really does help! You did amazing!
Thanks so much! <3
When I moved to Middle East I gave up to alcohol, and I felt so much better! Not that I used to drink a lot before, maybe two cocktail a week or so, but even taking await that small quantity made the difference, on my skin, weight and body! xx

Thank you!
I had a crazy idea a little while ago to go 100 days with no alcohol OR caffiene (I know, I was crazy). I made it and ended my 100 days Janruary 16th. & I do SO MUCH BETTER drinking water daily now.
I highly suggest this as a body/mind reset or for people who feel like they need a little self challenge ❤
That is AMAZING!! Congrats on going through with it, I can only imagine how difficult it was!!
I love your honesty hahaha. I LOVE to drink wine while I work on homework or blogging, but I can relate as this past summer I drank at least one glass of wine every single day. I did not feel healthy. I’ve since cut WAY back although I have never participated in “dry January” but I’ve heard of a lot of people observing it and I haven’t heard anything but positive results.
Good luck on your future endeavors when it comes to avoiding the chronic “wine down” ;)
Thanks for posting!
That’s how I felt too! I turned 21 back in October and I went out EVERY WEEKEND for a month. I don’t drink alcohol anymore since I’m actually allergic and have the worst stomach pain!
