Who’s excited for Easter this Sunday?! I sure am, because I can finally drink soda again. haha. I grew up Catholic, went to a Catholic school all the way up until 8th grade, went to Catholic Church and all. But when I got into high school, I started going to a Christian Church with my friends occasionally, and it was a whole different world. Personally I never got ANYTHING out of Catholic Church, as bad as that sounds lol. The services were so incredibly boring, and I started only going on Holiday’s because I had to. So when I went to a Christian Church, I was like, omg, what have I been missing all of these years?! I actually enjoyed it. Ever since then, my parents, neighbors (who I am really close with and celebrate every Holiday with,) and myself all began going to the same Christian Church. The same church that technically introduced Cody and I! (Church Camp our senior year of high school.) So we’ve all been going there for about 9 years now. However, I do still participate in Lent by giving something up.
I give up soda almost every year, and have been since I was 10 years old. When I was younger, I was so addicted to Seven Up and Dr. Pepper that giving it up was like the hardest thing ever. My best friend, Emily & I would both give it up, so after church on Easter every year, our moms would take us to a drive through somewhere to get our first soda again, lol. Then after a few years of giving it up, I all of a sudden didn’t like soda anymore. I literally would only drink water and I was like that for a good 4 years or so. Until I became a coffee addict. That’s when I would have my coffee in the morning and then have to have a soda at night. I am now completely addicted again and within the first few weeks of lent, I would get migraines at night because I was in desperate need of a soda (yes, the ones that hurt so bad that you want to throw up, lol.) Anyway, I hope everyone has a great Easter! Do you guys give things up for lent?!

Ah the dreaded headache when you rid of caffeine and sugar..it is the WORST! I always say to ease down try drinking green tea, it has caffeine but less then after that go down to matcha which is like a long lasting BUZZ of caffeine for several hours without the crash, it also has TONS of antioxidants! Try it out next time you give up for lent! Sending love and a Happy Easter <3 xo C
I’ve definitely wanted to ease into drinking tea! For the longest time, I swore I never liked it, but I tried a certain flavor recently and loved it. Thanks for reading, Courtney! <3

Giving up soda is hard. Our bodies get so used to the stimulation from soda and coffee that when we stop, they revolt. I was raised Catholic too, but it didn’t stick. My parents weren’t really religious and conveyed that to my brother and me implicitly. They told us to go to church but didn’t themselves. Happy Easter!
Same with my parents! My dad went to an all boys catholic school up until high school, and he says that 12 years of Wednesday Mass is good enough to last him the rest of his life. lol!
This is such a cute easter outfit!! Love the blue and blush combo!

I actually haven’t given anything up this year. In 5th grade though I gave up soda like you and ever since then haven’t craved it. It didn’t taste as good as I remember it being.

The pastel combination is so beautiful! Going to a Christian church, I remember being super young and having Catholic friends not being able to drink pop or have chocolate, etc because they’d given it up for Lent. At the time I never quite understood, haha. Hope you have a lovely Easter weekend!
