For New Year's Eve this year (or, technically last year, now,) Cody, myself, and a group of our friends went up to Big Bear to ring in the new year. We've hosted New Year's Eve at our apartment the past couple years, so it was nice to change it up a bit this time. We stayed in a cabin called Nature's Dream, which can be found through the Destination Big Bear website. It's 3 stories, sleeps 9, has a hot tub, and a beautiful view of Big Bear. (It's also RIGHT by the mountain for anyone who likes to ski or snowboard.) A few of us got there mid-day on Sunday the 30th, where we just relaxed the rest of the evening there, ate, drank wine, and played some games. The next morning on the 31st, we woke up to a snowfall! I must say, being that I live in LA, and have lived in Southern California my whole life, waking up to an actual winter wonderland, like full on snow falling out of the sky still gets me every time. I was like a child, running down the stairs yelling, "it's snowing!" The only thing I didn't do that I totally meant to do was build a snowman. But it's ok, next time. The rest of our group arrived in the afternoon this day, and that's when the festivities began, haha. About an hour before midnight, we met our Armenian neighbors who invited us over for a shot or two, lol, and they were SO funny and nice. We played a few Armenian games with their whole family, mingled, and then went back to our cabin for the ball drop. Now last year, I didn't even REMEMBER the ball drop, or even the second half of the night, to be exact, so I made sure to keep my alcohol intake to like 3/4 of whatever I did last year, lol. Literally guys, after last year, I stopped taking shots and only drink wine most of the time now. Remember when I decided to do Sober January, too?! Yeah, I still think back on that night and cringe because I remember EXACTLY how we all felt the next morning. Like, never woke up that hungover in my life, to the point where I was re-evaluating my entire life, hahaha. Thankfully, I woke up perfectly fine this year, and all I have is a cold. *Praise hand emojis*
