Finally getting to start some of this honeymoon + Tulum content. I'll be sharing the places we ate and loved, as well as some Do's & Don'ts when in Tulum. But let's start with where we stayed for today...

We first had an Airbnb to stay in, which we were really excited for, but we encountered too many issues upon arrival. Things were not working properly and not able to be used... Like the stove/oven for starters! lol. (Literally got there around 10 and were starving. Had food to cook, but we couldn't make anything, and everything was closed near us, as far as food.) That was just ONE of the issues we encountered lol. I HATE complaining about things like this, so I really did not make it an issue with the host - I sent the host a message the next morning just explaining the issues and that we would be leaving the next day because we didn't want to waste any time on our honeymoon, and thanked her... My message was calm and nice, and all I asked was how to go about getting refunded at least for the remaining days... and she went from nice to incredibly mean, REAL QUICK. Like basically calling me a liar even with me having photo proof lol. ANYWAY... we booked a hotel and got the hell out of there. And yes, many told us not to do an airbnb - we didn't listen - but we honestly made the most of it when we were there and just laughed it off. We were still on a high from the wedding, and just excited to have a full week of hanging out, exploring Tulum together.

We finally ended up at Hotelito Azul and loved it so much! The staff was so nice and helpful, which always makes such a difference when it comes to your experience at a place you're staying. If you're familiar with Tulum and the hotels along the beach, Hotelito Azul is about a 5 minute drive from where Azulik & Papaya Playa Project are. (I'll have more about Azulik in a later blog post. *insert eyeroll.*)

Every morning, the hotel has a basket with coffee waiting by your front door, and if you ever need anything, you can just text the concierge via WhatsApp, even for room service. They made everything so easy and enjoyable, and the entire staff is so friendly, like every time we'd walk past someone, or they would walk past our room while we were on the balcony, they'd walk over to say hi, and just always made sure we were taken care of. I am, in fact, Mexican and speak fluent Spanish, so we'd just shoot the shit with the bartenders in Spanish. We even left as Instagram friends with one of our favorite bartenders! lol. Even before we checked in, I received a message on WhatsApp from the concierge saying she saw it was our honeymoon through our reservation, and asked if we wanted a private dinner on their rooftop set up any of the nights we were there. Hotelito Azul has the highest rooftop in Tulum, which is a flight of stairs up from the pool deck, and we had our dinner up there on Monday at sunset. It was beautiful and such a cool experience we will never forget!

When we weren't out exploring Tulum, we were laying on the hammock on our balcony, and it was seriously the best. (We WILL have a hammock on our balcony at our house when we move in.) It was our favorite way to end each night. There was one night where we stayed up downing tequila shots while laying in our hammock and we had theeee best time. We even walked over to the beach and went night swimming in the ocean with all of our clothes on hahaha.

We had the absolute best time on our honeymoon and would go back to this hotel in a heartbeat. We went to other hotels to eat, and the customer service at our hotel was unmatched. There were other places with rude staff, and we literally could not stop talking about how nice everyone was at our hotel!
