Dress: c/o Windsor
I will be honest, it’s difficult for me to even post right now, due to what has happened the past 3 days in America. Three straight days of violence, and it’s honestly all I can think about at the moment. I try not to bring any of my personal, political, or religious views onto my blog, but I did share something on my personal Facebook page yesterday, before everything that happened in Dallas last night that I want to share with you all, too:
To have a dad in Law Enforcement means to basically listen to everyone scrutinize him, call him names, and hate him, even though he has NEVER used his gun on anyone in the THIRTY YEARS he’s been a police officer. Every night, I pray that my dad isn’t killed by a random person who just hates cops in general. When he worked in a predominately Hispanic area, he was called a racist everyday, even though he married my mom who is 100% Hispanic, has a half Hispanic daughter, and was adopted by a Hispanic family. Did the media ever tell you of the time my dad, while on duty, pulled over on the freeway just to give a dog water? Or the time he personally rushed a baby to the hospital because she was left inside of a hot car and was about to die? Or how about the multiple times he has gotten to a domestic violence call just in time to save the person being beaten by their own spouse? Or of the 30 years he has spent doing everything possible to avoid the use of his gun? So the next time you roll down your windows to make pig noises at him, even when you don’t even know him, please think twice, because there are good cops out there, and my dad is absolutely one of them.
Believe me, it breaks my heart to see the lives certain officers have taken. It’s not fair to the families and the innocent lives that were lost. It also breaks my heart, that the actions of certain cops have categorized all cops into one bad name, and because of that, I fear for my dads life when he is on duty.
“Returning hate for hate, multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
I’m sorry for bringing this to a fashion blog, but I sincerely couldn’t write about anything else. If you read all the way through, I do appreciate it. <3

I admire your addressing this difficult subject. My father (and brother) were both cops. In 30 years, my father also never had to draw his gun. He viewed his job as public service and spent most of his time helping people. Many don’t understand what the police do and, from media, think it’s only violence.
Love this dress on you. You look like a Greek goddess. :)
It was definitely a topic I was hesitant to share, but glad I did. So glad to hear you can relate, as well. Thank you so much for reading and for stopping by! :)
I live in the UK and it breaks my heart to see everything that is happening in America, it is just terrible!

This hits very close to home for me. My fiancé is a sheriff’s deputy, and I pray every night when he goes out on duty that he comes home to me safely. There are more good cops than bad cops in this world. Most of them truly just want to help people and stop the violence. I just started reading your blog about a week ago, and I’m so glad you shared this post. <3
So glad to hear you can relate! It’s such a tough topic, and a touchy one. I was SO hesitant to bring this post over to my blog, and literally stared at it for 30 minutes, since I didn’t want to offend anyone, or anyone to take it out of context. Really happy you enjoyed it though. Thanks so much for reading! <3

Too many people are judged according actions they have nothing to do with. If it’s about black people, cops, muslims etc. It’s so important for people to understand we can’t blame the whole group, race or nation for the terrible acts of certain people. Your words are so touching! I wish peace to you, your brave dad and the whole family.
