Face Essentials

Mar 11

I have finally gotten around to a post on what I use for my face to answer some of your questions! Like I’ve said many times, I obviously edit my photos, so my skin isn’t perfect, but one thing I very rarely ever get are pimples. I get one or two once every blue moon, and while genes may have to do with it, I also believe there are ways to help prevent them with anyone. When I get a pimple, I NEVER EVER touch or pop it. I just leave it alone until it goes away. When you mess with a pimple, you are just allowing more dirt to get in there and you irritate it, so for me, personally, popping a pimple has never done any good for when I have in the past. Also, I never sleep with makeup on, I take every tiny bit of it off, and wash it with water after. Also, sleeping with makeup on is a huge DON’T, and the fact that some people do that and let it get all over their pillow.. and then sleep on a makeup-y pillow each night after that, grosses me out. lol.

But anyway, first I’ll start with makeup. The right foundation obviously plays a huge role in how smooth your skin will look once makeup is on, and I used to swear by my Makeup Forever HD Foundation. I used it for 6 years, up until two weeks ago. I ran out, and went to Sephora to get another bottle of it. I picked up my color, and then one of the workers came by and told me I didn’t know what I was missing and HAD to try NARS. So she walks me over to that section, and completely re-does my foundation I had on. I look in the mirror after and I was so shocked! I  put my Makeup Forever down and grabbed the NARS. It does wonders, and although it’s a splurge, it’s so worth it. Plus it will last you. It’s the same size bottle as my old one, and I always had to use much more of it for full coverage… and even that one would last me at least SIX MONTHS! Along with that, I also use a NARS Concealer, which the lady suggested I used as a highlighter instead, which I do. But if you want a cheaper concealer, Dream Lumi Highlighter Touch by Maybelline (in Ivory,) can be found at Target, and it’s a great one!

Now the eyebrows. I used to try different eyebrow pencils from Target, and each one that I would try would run out in as little as 3 weeks. Someone had suggested I tried Anastasia Beverly Hills, and that I would love it. And indeed I did. I don’t think I will ever switch to another eyebrow pencil. The last one I had lasted me from mid December to last week, the beginning of March. I would have already gone through around NINE of them if I was still using the ones from Target.

One of my current obsessions is face cream. My absolute FAVORITE right now is Lotus Youth Preserve by Fresh, which you have probably noticed hanging out on my sidebar for quite some time. My face used to get dry very easily, and no matter how much lotion I would put on, it just never did the trick. I’ve been using this face cream for months, and I am completely obsessed with it. My face is seriously never dry anymore, and the best part is that it smells like cucumbers, and makes your face feel super fresh (no pun intended,) so I look forward to putting it on every night.

Now the last 3, which are, Olay Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, DNA Firming Neck Cream, & DNA Eye Cream. One thing I’ve always complained about is my neck. I have lines up the ying yang on my neck, and most who know me would agree. lol. Of course, I smooth them out when I edit my photos, but still. At Sephora, I’ve been a Beauty Insider for 9 or 10 years, and I’ve saved up some major points, which scored me the eye and neck cream for free at check out a few weeks ago. When the lady asked if I wanted the one with neck cream, I was like, YES PLEASE. haha. And lastly, the Olay Regenerist Cream.  I put it along my jawline (as the box said) and will occasionally use it on my entire face. It’s just hard for me not to use my Lotus cream, so I haven’t really had a chance to use it much, but I still like it!

Now if I had to choose my favorites, below are the ones I cannot live without. I mean, I could, but you know what I mean.
