I found this quote on Pinterest, but I didn’t like the picture or the font it had, so I made my own. :)
This quote struck me right away. It’s so easy to doubt yourself, and think of the million reasons why you can’t do something, or shouldn’t… but what about the million reasons why you can? We are ALL capable of achieving whatever it is that we set out to do, but like the quote basically says… we just don’t think we’re capable. And believe me, I should be taking this advice myself, because there have been countless times where I have thought to myself during dance auditions, “I’m not going to get picked,” “She’s prettier, so they’ll want her instead,” or “She’s a much better dancer than I am.” Even when I get the email for an audition and I read the description of the type they’re looking for, 99 percent of the time, I think that I don’t fit the type. The description can literally read: “Blonde girl, 5’2, strong technical dancer with gymnast background,” and I will still think that someone else will fit that type better than I do… Even when I was a gymnast for 10 years, and have been training in dance for the past 19 years… and I’m blonde and 5’2! lol
Obviously my agency sent me the audition notice because they felt that I fit the description. They have told me countless times that they signed me because they believed in me… but I have to believe in myself too. Thinking negative thoughts instantly sets me up for failure. Nobody can go into anything with a negative mindset and expect it to work out for them. You DO have what it takes, and you CAN do it, you just have to believe in yourself.
