Miami Guide: Where To Stay, Where To Eat

Sep 7

A couple weeks ago, I went to Miami with my friends Chandler and Brenna for Brenna's birthday. It was actually my first time in Miami, too! Chandler and Brenna have gone tons of times, so we were pretty set with the list of restaurants we needed to hit up while there. We stayed at the 1 Hotel South Beach and we looooved it. The aesthetic like screamed my name.

Our Room

Ask for a free upgrade, and you juuuust might get one. Chandler is the best at this stuff lol. We got upgraded to a suite with a kitchen, dishwasher, washer & dryer, and the prettiest view.

The Design District

The part I was most excited about in Miami was going to the Dior Cafe. Had my Dior sneakers with an outfit alll prepared for it lol. Now... is it that good? eh. I got the Dior latte, cause, why not.. and some avocado toast. Food was subpar, but it's overall a cute spot. It was hot as BALLS, though.

The Goodtime Hotel

We alllmost stayed at The Goodtime Hotel, and next time I'm in Miami, this is where I'll be booking. It is soooo cute! We did come here for drinks and their bread one night, it's a restaurant called Strawberry Moon. I recommend coming for a little lunch and drinks during the day. Wish we explored around this hotel a little more. Photos below are from the good time hotel website.

Where To Eat

1. Swan
We went to Swan twice: one night for drinks and it's basically a club at night, lol. I'm not really into the club scene, so I recommend coming during the day for lunch or brunch. We came back the next day during lunch before heading to the airport, and I'm glad I got to experience it during the day. We had the Swan Caesar and the "Corn, Corn, Corn:" creamy polenta, brown butter full on popcorn on top. So good! We only stopped for something light because we had already eaten, but everything else on their menu looked really good too. Saw some other tables order the pizza and it looked great.

2. Papi Steak
On the night we went to dinner at Papi Steak, we sat next to fucking David and Victoria Beckham. Yeah, dead. Food wise, this place is good spot to try if it's your first time in Miami. Very lively! Did I think it was like the best steakhouse ever? No. I think Mastro's is way better. (I think there's only one in Florida, but they're very popular here in California.)

3. Jaya at the Setai
I was very skeptical of this place when Chan and Brenna said we are coming here, because I don't like seafood, but I'm so glad we went. The scene in general is beautiful, so it's definitely an experience. I wasn't sure I'd find anything I'd like on the menu, but I got the Veggie Rolls and I LOVED them. Very up my alley. I'm not a vegetarian, but like I said, I'm not into seafood - these had avocado and cucumber and instead of seaweed, it was asparagus wrapped inside the rice - then lots of soy sauce, of course. (I have videos of this place on my Miami story on my IG for ambiance reference!) Highly recommend.

4. Strawberry Moon
Strawberry Moon is located at The Goodtime Hotel, which I'm obsessed with, and it's so cute!! We just got drinks and their super popular Moon Bread before we left to have dinner at Jaya. Moon Bread is a must.

5. Kiki on the River
We didn't make it to Kiki this trip, but apparently it's a great spot.

5. Cecconi's
We went here on our first night for dinner. They have a Cecconi's in West Hollywood, and it's one of my favorite restaurants, so we had to make a stop while in Miami. If you go for happy hour, the truffle burger is to die for, however, they ONLY serve it during happy hour. Otherwise, I get the Agnolotti Del Plim Truffle & Parmesan with a side of tabasco. (photo on right is from the Cecconi's website.)

Our last full day, we made a little stop at the Edition Hotel for drinks.
