The Process Of Hair Extensions w/ Great Lengths
The Process Of Hair Extensions w/ Great Lengths | Blondie in the City

My hair has gone through so many different colors in its lifetime, it's almost embarrassing. For those who don't know, I used to be brunette. I was born with blondish hair and then it just got extremely dark as I got older. I started my hair dying obsession in high school, and it's been a rollercoaster ever since. Highlights, black hair, light brown, auburn, yellow blonde, red, back to brunette... name it and I've probably already done it. However, blonde was the color I always wanted. I did go "blonde" twice while in high school, but it never stayed around long enough for me to like it. Going blonde is a lot of work and it's takes FOREVER... Mainly because you don't want all of your hair to fall off in one sitting. So for anyone who currently has dark hair that wants to go blonde, my advice to you is to give it a chance. Allow it to get past the annoying yellow stage. One thing I didn't know when I first tried out the blonde life was how helpful purple shampoo would be. I actually didn't even know "purple shampoo" was a thing. It does an amazing job at toning down your yellow-ness and it will become an obsession each time you wash your hair. I've tried out almost every purple shampoo their is, I swear, to the point where I feel like I got my degree in purple shampoo..... So I have two favorites: If you are looking for bright blonde hair, Unite Blonda Shampoo is a great one. Definitely my favorite for the bright blonde look.

Now for my current silver/ash/grey color, I LIVE for Matrix So Silver Shampoo. No joke, I get asked a few times a week how I get my hair this color, and my answer is always "Matrix So Silver Shampoo!" Most of the time, it's when I'm waiting for my drink at Starbucks. lol. I bought this shampoo because the one I was going to buy wasn't in store, so I was recommended this one. I had no intentions of going silver or grey, but I ended up loving the result. I put it all through my hair and left it in for 20 minutes, and then came out with this color. I only do around 10-15 minutes once a week with this shampoo, because it will turn your hair purple if it's left in for too long. (But I sometimes kind of like the purple tone haha.)

(I was at my parents house last week and one of my dad's friends was over. I walk in and his friend goes, "Wow Hayley, your hair is almost as grey as your dad's." I laughed, but in my head I was like, "I don't think that's a compliment, but thanks." lol.) Anyway, I know I've done a post on purple shampoo already, but this is an updated version, now that I have found two that I LOVE that give two different color results.

Your experiences with your hair are interesting because they illustrate contemporary life. You may not know this but back in the old days (when I was growing up, in the Seventies) only a small number of women colored their hair. Like 5%. Now, the vast majority of women do it. This makes you a time-capsule!

I know that writing articles is time consuming and boring.
But did you know that there is a tool that allows you to create
